with a twist
For more than 10 years, Mystery Trip has created experiential corporate team building events that surprise and delight blue-chip companies across the country. Founded by a former HR executive, the mystery is none of the guests know what they’ll be experiencing until they get there, creating an organic opportunity for org charts to flatten and walls between people to come down.
Mystery Trips are all about maximizing your ROI. We create custom-made corporate team building events that target your goals and your group’s personality.
With a Mystery Trip, you’ll know all about the event, but your team won’t! This creates buzz and camaraderie before the team building even starts.
Mystery Trips are specifically designed to organically bring your team together, and give them an unforgettable and completely unique team building experience!
“Every Mystery Trip is like a snowflake — a unique experience that never repeats.” (Thrillist)
Our team building events are created for groups looking to do something impactful, extraordinary and unforgettable. But there’s a catch: none of your guests will know what they’re doing until they get there (yes, you will know!). Rest assured, we are mysterious professionals and know keeping our events a mystery creates a shared visceral experience, which organically breaks walls down between your guests, allowing them to positively connect in ways no other event can.
We have created hundreds of corporate team building events for some of the biggest companies in the world, creating memorable offsites, networking events, conference excursions and more.
The Mystery Trip experience begins on the first call. We want to know the reasons and goals for your event, as well as learn more about the personality of people attending to ensure we create the ideal team building experience that will resonate long after the event is over.
The goal of each Mystery Trip is to produce a customized, creative and impactful event that encourages empathy, togetherness and growth between your guests. All of the things we know are important in becoming a successful unit.
A thorough download with a member of our team, will allow us to understand the dynamics and personality of the group, as well as your goals for the event.
Pulling from our massive, ever-growing database and our creative backgrounds, we create team building events that will resonate directly with your group.
From transportation to meals to activities and swag, we handle every last detail for your event so you don’t have to think about it.
Our events are run by our Mysterious Liaisons who love their jobs. All you have to do is sit back and relax (and take all the credit).
Red Bull was looking for a team bonding event that matched their high-octane brand and would allow the team to work together in a non-traditional way.
Mystery Trip solution:
From the get-go, the Mystery Trip team decided to take advantage of the beautiful Southern California weather, and that creating a high-octane event with fun, unexpected surprises that would challenge them would be the key to success for the group.
The event:
We first took them to a marina and split them into random crews for a sailing regatta. During the race, the team members rotated through the various crew positions, as they raced the other boats in the Santa Monica Bay. Medals for the winning teams were presented during a champagne ceremony at the conclusion of the event. Walking back to the bus, they were all smiles when they discovered the soft-serve ice cream truck waiting for them. The group – thinking the event was over – was surprised when the bus pulled up to an oceanside park instead. Waiting for them was a world-renowned facilitator who led them in a therapeutic (and loud!) drum circle, something none of them had ever experienced before!
Client feedback:
“Just checking in to let you know our trip was a huge success! Everyone really enjoyed themselves, and a great time was had by all. Everything went smoothly and I was able to relax and enjoy myself as well. Thank you so much for all your hard work in making our offsite a smashing success.”
Tiffany’s Global Sales department had converged on New York and was looking to wow the team with an original offsite that had a 1970’s element to it, as well as some culture.
Mystery Trip solution:
New York? The 70’s? Culture? The perfect combination for the creative minds at Mystery Trip, but we wanted to slip in a few curveballs to keep the group on their toes.
The event:
The first stop was a midtown dance studio for a disco dance lesson taught by a professional dance instructor. After learning the steps of the Hustle and other basic disco moves, we surprised them with a guest: a John Travolta look-alike in all of his Saturday Night Fever glory (white suit and all!). The dance party and the laughs continued until Tony Manero said he had to get back to the paint store. We then headed to the Turkish Cultural Center to learn the lost art of Ebru painting (drizzled paint on water which is then transferred to paper). One of the leading Ebru painters in the city gave the team a quick history of this unique method of painting before leading them in creating their own works of art. The event culminated at a downtown bistro for dinner and karaoke in a private room. A groovy experience for everyone!
Client feedback:
“Thank you again for your partnership in executing this event so seamlessly. You were great to work with, and the team here at Tiffany & Co had an absolute blast!”
Connect commissioned Mystery Trip to create a value-added evening of networking and exploring for meeting and event professionals attending their annual conference in Louisville.
Mystery Trip solution:
The challenge to create a fun and engaging event with an unknown guest demographic (who had been on their feet all day) forced the Mystery Trip team to think differently. We decided on a hyper-local experience that would allow people to explore the city in a low-impact, high-value event while allowing for organic interpersonal connections.
The event:
The bus pulled away filled with strangers and a quiet nervous excitement, but the tension quickly dissipated as they each read their “Three Amazing Facts about Me.” By the time we reached our first stop, people were already connecting over their shared backgrounds, hobbies, and work/life experiences. A behind-the-scenes tour of Churchill Downs kicked off the event. The group got special access to exclusive areas of the track, including the Jockey’s Quarters, Millionaires Row, and the private members-only Turf Club. Giddy up! The next stop was dinner at Mike Linnig’s, a 95-year old restaurant, about 30 minutes outside of the city, and definitely off the beaten path. The group enjoyed a traditional fish fry, alligator and even tried frog legs! The final stop was Copper & Kings, Kentucky’s only American Brandy and Absinthe distillery, where the group was given a behind-the-scenes tour and tasted several of their spirits. The bus ride home was loud and raucous, with a new appreciation for Louisville, new friends, and new business connections.
Client feedback:
“Thanks again for providing a unique evening for our attendees. This type of hyper-local experience is just the type of event we’ve been looking to integrate into our program. I’ve already gotten a ton of positive feedback, and I can’t wait to see what you’ll come up with for next year in New Orleans!”
